While, later on, its demand drastically decreases as it requires more patience and skill.
In the present time, carving is again getting praise and remarks which shows it is on the verge of popularity among sapiens. Although it is an expensive art, it could be quite fun if you do it on your own. In this way, it would be less costly and also bring a CozyStream to a place.
How to carve an abstract:
Creating an abstract would be quite challenging as it requires more focus, determination and most important skill. In fact, if you draw anything on any curve with any angle, which can also turn into abstract. It simply means you need not to get worried how it might turn into. Abstract itself means an idea or non-realistic thing but you can take ideas from the nature or the real world.
Let’s start:
- If you have already decided what to draw or carve on the wood in your mind then start drawing it physically.
- Or you can use a scanner to get the design into the correct size. With that design, start tracing it into the wood.
- Ensure that the design is drawn perfectly without leaving any part or any misalignment. Now, start carving from the outer edge with a carving knife.
- At each step of your carving take a measurement such that you are assured that you are moving in the right direction.
- In final step use a grit to erase the marks of the tool (carving knife). Different type of grit is available in the market. Use them accordingly as per requirement. In between every grit ensure the wood is dry and an interval of time.
- Finally, you can use a briwax to give a smooth finish and to seal any gaps.
Things to Ponder:
- Always ensure that safety is the first priority. Keep first aid kit handy.
- You can always start from, drawing a triangle or an oval and giving a contrast on each layer for more detail.
- Keep your tools sharp. This will make carving easier.
- You can use a sandpaper instead of briwax.
- The abstract can be of any shape. It can be big as a giant or small as a pie.
- Use softwood if you are a beginner like Pinewood or basswood.
- There is always a method to correct any mistake if not then you might need to change your view.
Conclusion:
Keep in mind with every step you are doing better from the previous one. Remember first you have to initialize to start a new work and the step taken in that direction is more important than achieving it. Keep practicing with determination and focus. Maybe you get it after few attempts or might be in the first attempt. Enjoy your day.
